Found a way to claim gas mileage without a logbook every trip
I was tracking every single mile driving between gigs for months and it was a pain. Then a buddy who does landscaping told me he just uses the standard mileage rate on his total business miles for the year from Google Maps history. I exported my location data for 2023 and found I drove 4,200 miles just for work trips. Has anyone else tried using their phone's location history instead of a paper log?

My buddy tried that and the IRS flagged his return and he owed back taxes plus penalties.
