Hit my 1,000th delivery last night and realized I made less than minimum wage after gas and wear and tear
I sat in my car at 2 AM after dropping off a single burrito 12 miles away and did the math, and that $4 tip barely covered the brake pads I'm gonna need next month, has anyone actually figured out if this stuff is worth it long term?

Right? Its like you're just borrowing from your own car's future to pay for today.

I dunno man, I see people on here acting like driving a couple extra miles is gonna total their car. My 2004 Corolla has 220k miles on it and I've done nothing but oil changes and one set of tires the whole time I've been doing this. You're talking about brake pads like you're replacing them every month, that's like a $40 expense every two years. Maybe the real issue is people buying cars they can't afford to run and blaming the gig work instead of just getting a beater.

Admitted I used to tell people it was fine if you knew your market, but sitting down with a spreadsheet changed everything. After tracking every mile, oil change, and the occasional McFlurry I buy myself to keep going, it's pretty clear the money disappears faster than you think. Long term this only works if you're okay with your car slowly dying for less than you'd make at a fast food place.
