Hail damage left my sliding door looking like a spiderweb

I was cleaning up after that big storm and saw the glass on my patio door is all cracked now. It's got these lines all over like a web, and I'm worried it might shatter. I want to replace it myself but I've only done small picture windows before. This door is big, maybe six feet tall. What's the best way to handle tempered glass for something this size? Do I need special clamps or just regular suction cups? Also, how do I make sure the new sealant holds up in wet weather?

That big glass is tricky but doable.

Yeah, big glass panels can be so annoying to get spotless... I've had my share of failed attempts. Using newspaper instead of cloth sometimes works for me, cuts down on lint. But even then, if the sun hits it wrong, every streak shows up. Takes a lot of trial and error, honestly. Solidarity on the struggle... we'll both figure it out someday.

Consider how you clean a big glass surface. Many folks use too much pressure and cause streaks. For example, on my patio door, I spray cleaner directly and wipe in circles, but that leaves marks. Instead, try a zigzag motion with a squeegee. Have you found a method that works better?
