My tool pegboard setup failed when a heavy vise fell off.

The anchors pulled out of the drywall. Any tips for securing heavy gear to walls?

A vise pulling anchors from drywall sounds like a setup problem from the start. Tbh, drywall isn't made for that kind of weight. It's like expecting a shelf to hold a car engine. You gotta hit a stud or use proper wall mounts for heavy stuff. I've messed up similar projects before by not planning ahead. Really, it's not the end of the world, just a lesson learned.

Exactly! People skip planning in everything, not just DIY.

Wait, you tried to put a vise on drywall? That thing must weigh a ton!

I mean, the whole "drywall isn't made for that" thing is overblown. I've hung some pretty heavy stuff on just anchors before. A good toggle bolt in drywall can hold a crazy amount if you do it right. People act like you need a stud for everything, but I put a big mounted TV on just drywall anchors five years ago and it's fine. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes the planning gets in the way of just getting the job done.
