Spent $180 on a dental savings plan instead of traditional insurance and it actually covered two cleanings plus a filling cheaper than my old copay.
Found this plan through a freelancer forum last October and the math worked out better than the marketplace bronze plan I was priced out of has anyone else tried discount plans for basic procedures?

Did the plan have a waiting period on that filling or did they let you go right in? Ive been looking at a couple discount plans but some of them have fine print about pre-existing conditions and waiting times that make me nervous. The math on yearly savings adds up on paper but Im wondering if theres a limit to how many procedures theyll actually discount.

My buddy Mark signed up for one of those discount plans last year. He went in for a root canal and the dentist told him he had to wait 6 months before they'd cover anything on that tooth because it was considered pre-existing. @milalewis, by the time they let him use the discount he was in so much pain he ended up just paying full price to get it done sooner. He also found out his plan had a cap of like 10 procedures per year, so all that math was pretty much worthless for him after the second filling.

Sounds like he got a deal on pain and paperwork, not dentistry.
