Switched from a bronze plan to a silver one through the marketplace and my deductible dropped by $1,200
Tbh I thought all the metal tiers were basically the same until I actually ran the numbers and saw the silver plan had way lower copays for my asthma meds plus a $750 tax credit I almost missed, has anyone else found a tier switch that actually saved them money?

Bank the difference for emergencies" - that made me laugh honestly. My "emergency" last year was a $4,000 ER bill for a kidney stone, and my bronze plan barely covered anything after the deductible. I actually ran the math and the silver plan saved me around $900 a year just on my asthma inhalers alone, plus way less stress when I actually needed to go in. Did you ever have a big medical expense on your bronze plan that made you question the savings?

@dylan_ward preach, bronze plans can really screw you on the big stuff.

Nah, silver plans always seem more expensive upfront to me. I'd rather take the bronze and bank the difference for emergencies.
