Warning: the cheap plan I picked in March had a nasty network surprise

I signed up for a budget bronze plan through the marketplace back in March because the premium was only $214 a month. Then last week my therapist told me she was getting dropped from the network and I'd owe $180 per session out of pocket starting in July. I checked the provider list again and realized the plan had quietly switched to a narrower network than the one I saw during open enrollment. Anyone else get burned by network changes after you already paid your first few premiums? How do you catch this before it hits your wallet?

Wait, so the plan you see today is different from what was shown back in March? That seems like something the marketplace should have to tell you about, but I know they never really do. Did you get any official notice in the mail or email about the network change, or did you only find out because your therapist mentioned it? The way these insurance companies swap networks without a big warning is honestly shady. If you had kept seeing the old provider list, you would have had no clue until you got a surprise bill. Have you checked the date on when they actually updated the provider directory? Because if the change happened after you enrolled, that could be grounds for a complaint with your state's insurance department. Also, what's the timeline on both the plan change and when your therapist got the notice? That might tell you if they were trying to slide this past people quietly.
