Noticing a cracked pin on the excavator but the boss said keep going

Fixing it would delay us half a day. I went along but now I regret not insisting.

Yeah, I get what ruby442 is saying about weighing small risks. I used to think that way too, just push through the little stuff. But I saw a guy get real messed up from a "small" hydraulic line failure that everyone knew was seeping. Boss said finish the shift. That pin could be the thing that lets go at the worst second. Changed my mind for good. It's never worth betting your body on a maybe.

What?! A cracked pin and he just said keep going... that's terrifying, man. That's how awful accidents happen.

That's how people get killed. No job is worth that risk.

We had a truck with a small coolant leak once. The boss said to top it off and run it just for the day's local moves. Sometimes you have to weigh a small risk against shutting down the whole job. If that pin was just a stabilizer for slow work, I can see the call. It's not always black and white out there.
