I began poking around abandoned mining towns and found an odd difference in the records.

Now I'm hooked on figuring out what really happened there. Anyone else get sucked into a local history puzzle?

What does it say about me that I consider staring at old census records a fun Saturday night? I've definitely gone down a few rabbit holes trying to cross-reference stuff... my dog now recognizes the local archive's website. Pretty sure he thinks I'm researching gourmet dog food trends.

You're reading too much into it (just a fun hobby, really).

Your dog's probably hoping those records lead to extra treats, @olivia_perez.

The part about your dog recognizing the archive website is the best thing I've read all week. He's definitely over there judging your life choices, wondering why you're still looking at boring food pictures that never turn into real snacks. You're basically getting the side eye for conducting the world's most disappointing taste test from his point of view. All that research and not a single new flavor of chicken has appeared. It's a tragedy from a canine perspective.
