I finally swapped my standing desk for a drafting table
After 3 years of using a cheap standing desk from Amazon, I switched to a used drafting table I found on Craigslist for $80. The tilt surface makes a huge difference for sketching out landscape designs and keeps my neck from craning down. I was worried about losing the standing option, but the guy selling it threw in a tall stool for free. Has anyone else tried something non-traditional for their workspace setup?

A cheap standing desk from Amazon for 3 years? Dang, that thing must've been held together with hope and zip ties.

...and that's exactly what I was thinking when I read this, because a buddy of mine did something similar a couple years back. He got an old architectural drafting table from an estate sale for like fifty bucks, and he swore by it for his watercolor stuff. He said the tilt was a game changer for his back pain, but the real kicker was he ended up just stacking books on it to get the right height instead of using the stool. I guess the point is you can make almost anything work if youre creative enough, and eighty bucks is a steal compared to what people spend on fancy ergonomic setups.

Fancy ergonomic setups" are overrated honestly, but I gotta say drafting tables usually have a fixed tilt so he was lucky his back pain didn't get worse from stacking books on an angle.
