Just learned my cheap LED desk lamp was killing my focus

I read an article on a home office site that said flicker rates in budget LED lights can cause eye strain and headaches after a few hours. I've been using a $15 lamp from Target for 2 years and wondered why I always felt drained by 3 PM. Has anyone else noticed a big difference after switching to a higher quality lamp?

The flicker is probably way more of an issue than people realize. Cheap LEDs use a basic driver that cycles on and off 120 times a second, and even if your eyes don't notice it, your brain has to work overtime to process that strobing. I switched to a lamp with a higher frequency driver and it felt like the room just got calmer, even though the light level was the same. No more subtle headaches after a long afternoon in front of the computer. It's one of those upgrades that doesn't seem like much until you try it, then you can't go back.

Oh man, that totally reminds me of when I switched to those "flicker-free" bulbs in my kitchen. I didn't even realize the old ones were giving me that weird eye strain until I swapped them out and suddenly cooking dinner didn't feel like a chore (well, less of a chore anyway). It's wild what we just get used to, right?

Nah, I gotta push back on this a bit... I've been using cheap lamps from Walmart for years and never had that issue. Maybe my eyes just aren't that sensitive or something but I think people overthink this stuff sometimes. The real drain for me is staring at a screen all day, not the lamp sitting three feet away. If the flicker thing was really that bad, half the offices in America would be falling apart by noon.
