Vent: The afternoon my office chair armrest finally gave out on a client call
I was on a Zoom call with a potential client last Tuesday, right at 2pm. Mid-sentence explaining my process, the left armrest on my cheap chair just snapped off. Loud crack. I froze, tried to play it cool, but the guy saw me struggling to keep balanced. He actually said "you okay over there?" I ended up finishing the call holding myself up with my elbow on the desk. Didn't get the gig. Went to Office Depot that evening and picked up a refurbished Steelcase for $350. Has anyone else had furniture break at the worst possible moment?

Lol "you okay over there" is such a brutal thing to hear while your chair is actively betraying you. But honestly this is just another example of how we all cheap out on stuff that literally holds us up all day. Mattresses, shoes, chairs, car seats - we bargain hunt for the one thing that supports our spine for 8+ hours. My buddy spent $40 on a gaming chair from Amazon and was shocked when the gas cylinder exploded 6 months in. That Steelcase will probably outlive your laptop lol.

@luna261 nailed it with that "bargain hunt" thing. We'll spend $70 on dinner but balk at a $300 chair that we sit in for 8 hours a day. It's like we forget our backs don't get a refund policy. That exploding cylinder story is wild though, glad your buddy didn't get hurt.
