Swapped my $30 builder's lamp for a $80 daylight LED and my eyes stopped hurting

I used to think any bright light was good enough for drafting plans and doing estimates at my desk. But after two months of headaches and squinting, I switched to a proper daylight LED with a CRI above 90. The difference is unreal. My blueprints actually look true to color now instead of washed out. Plus I can work a full day without my eyes feeling like sandpaper. Definitely worth the extra $50 for anyone who stares at paper or screens all day. Has anyone else noticed a huge jump by upgrading their lighting?

Wait @xena_hernandez98, are you saying I could've saved fifty bucks and just moved my lamp six inches? That's a rough way to find out I'm basically a lighting noob who throws money at problems.

Wait, isn't it CRAZY how often we just throw cash at stuff instead of moving a lamp?

Respectfully, I see this a bit different. A good lamp matters, sure, but I have been using a $30 daylight bulb from the hardware store for three years now and my eyes are fine. The biggest difference for me was moving the light source to the right spot and cutting glare off my screen and paper. Sometimes spending more money feels like the fix when really just adjusting your setup does the trick. CRI and color warmth are nice, but for everyday drafting work a standard 5000k bulb does the job if you place it right.
