Why I ditched the $20 standing desk mat for a cheap pair of slippers instead
After 3 months of that gel mat making my feet sweat and ache, I tried wearing my worn-out house slippers under the desk and my knees stopped hurting overnight so has anyone else found a weird fix that beat the actual product?

That "feet sweat and ache" part really hit home for me... I had the same gross experience with my gel mat, felt like stepping onto a damp sponge every morning. But your slippers idea is genius honestly, sometimes the cheap fix works way better than the fancy thing everyone's selling.

Dude, right? That wet sponge feeling is the worst, especially first thing in the morning when you're half asleep. It's like your mat is secretly holding a grudge against you.

Jumping in to say @rowan_ross nailed it. It's funny how the "correct" product is usually just the most expensive one they can sell you, not the one that actually works. I've noticed this pattern with a lot of gear in my life, like buying fancy kitchen knives when a good sharpening stone and a cheap chef's knife work just as well. Or all those ergonomic office chairs that cost a grand but still make your back hurt, while some guy on YouTube is using a yoga ball for half the price. The standing mat thing is just another example of companies selling a solution to a problem they helped create. Sometimes the dumb, obvious fix is the right one.
