Chat with a retired furniture maker changed my chair situation
I was complaining about my back pain after sitting 10 hours a day, and he told me to ditch the fancy mesh chair for a solid wood one with a straight back. He said 'your body wasn't built to lean back into a net.' I tried an old dining chair for a week and my posture actually improved. Has anyone else had luck with a non-standard office chair?

My dad actually had a similar thing happen about 5 years ago when he visited a chiropractor who told him the same thing about leaning back. He swapped his fancy gaming chair for a simple oak straight-back chair from a thrift store for like 15 bucks. After a month his lower back pain went down a lot, but he did say it took a while to get used to not having armrests. The part about mesh being bad for posture makes sense to me, since most of those chairs kinda let you slump into them. I think people forget that our spines are meant to be upright, not cradled in a net.
