Warning: my 8-month journey from carpet to hardwood changed my focus completely

I started with a thick carpet in my home office, but after 8 months of back pain and fuzzy static shocks, I tore it out and laid down hardwood laminate. The difference in how my chair rolls and how quiet the room feels is night and day, plus my dog's fur doesn't stick to everything now. Has anyone else seen a big difference after changing their office flooring, or am I overthinking this?

Oh boy, I have to gently point out that cats don't really track lint - they clean themselves way too much for that. But totally agree about hardwood being a game changer for the static, my phone used to zap me every time I touched it in my old carpeted room.

My 62 year old back aches just reading about your carpet days. We put hardwood in our living room last spring and I felt the same relief you describe with your office. The static shocks were driving me crazy too, especially in the winter months with the dry air. Plus my old cat used to track that fuzzy lint all over the house. I think you made a smart choice for your body and your workspace.

Lint from her paws though. I saw it with my own cat.
