Warning: Jump squats on my hardwood floor wrecked my ankle

I was in the middle of my routine yesterday, doing jump squats in the living room, when I came down weird on the bare floor. My ankle rolled out and I tumbled right into the side table, sending a plant crashing down. Now I've got a purple bruise the size of a peach and I can barely walk. The pain is bad enough, but I'm also mad because this sets me back weeks from my goals. My partner just shook their head and said I should've used a mat, which yeah, but I was being lazy. It's annoying how one small mistake can mess up everything when you're trying to get fit on your own. I guess I'll be doing upper body stuff from the couch for a while, which sucks. Honestly, it makes me want to just give up sometimes, but I know I shouldn't.

Blaming the floor feels wrong. Your form going weird mid-air is what actually messed up your ankle, not the lack of a mat. Getting the movement right matters way more than what's under your feet.

I used to skip using a mat for floor workouts too. After a similar scare with my ankle, I changed my mind for good. It's annoying how a small choice can lead to such a big setback. Ngl, seeing your post makes me glad I learned that lesson early. Take care of that ankle and don't let it kill your drive.

Guess my ankle needed to personally explain why stores sell those stupid mats. Went from feeling tough skipping gear to limping around like I forgot how floors work. Nothing makes you appreciate foam padding like your own body screaming about bad choices. The universe really makes you learn some lessons the hard way.

Ever think about what kind of floor you're actually on? Like concrete under carpet is way different than a wood subfloor, even without a mat. That might change how much your ankle can take.
