Spent 3 hours on hold with Comcast to fix a simple router issue

Had a weird IP conflict last Tuesday that killed my whole home network. Took forever to find someone who actually understood what I was talking about. Anyone else have tricks for getting past tier 1 support faster?

Hit the reset button before you call, that fixes most router stuff and skips the first guy.

Used to think resetting was just wasting time, but you're right. I tried it on my own router when I was having dropouts and it fixed everything in like two minutes. Way better than sitting on hold with them for an hour.

My buddy Dave had this same issue where his internet would just die during work calls. He spent an hour on hold with support, went through all their scripted questions, and they finally had him restart the router anyway. Next time it happened he just hit the reset button on his own and it was back up in two minutes flat. Made a world of difference for him not having to deal with that whole phone tree nightmare again.
