Swapped Zoom calls for in-person coffee meetups last month

I was doing all my Houston networking through video calls and getting nowhere, but after three in-person meetings at a local spot on Westheimer I landed two solid referrals. Anyone else find face-to-face works way better here?

Ugh I feel this so hard. My last Zoom coffee chat I literally spilled water on my shirt and had to pretend I was fine for 45 minutes. In person you'd at least get a napkin and a laugh out of it, plus I actually remember people's faces after meeting them.

Yeah the "pretend I'm fine" part kills me too. I had a video call last week where my cat jumped on my keyboard and ended the meeting, so I just sat there staring at my own zoom face for a solid minute before I figured out how to rejoin. At least in a real room someone would have laughed and I could blame the cat instead of looking like I accidentally rage quit.
