Warning: The networking mixer at The Rustic on Thursday was a total mess

I stopped by The Rustic in the Heights last Thursday for their weekly networking event. I walked in at 6:30 and there were like 80 people crammed into one small corner near the bar. Nobody could hear each other over the live music and I ended up shouting my elevator pitch at a guy selling insurance for 10 minutes. The whole thing felt like a loud party instead of a place to make real business connections. Has anyone else tried that event and found a better spot inside to actually talk?

Was that the night the band was playing way too loud? I showed up around 7 and couldn't hear myself think. Ended up standing near the bathrooms just to have a real conversation with someone from the chamber of commerce.

Used to think those events were great but you changed my mind about that spot.

That "used to think those events were great" part hit me different. Here's something nobody's talking about - maybe the real problem isn't the event itself but how the crowd energy shifted over time. @kai839, you ever notice how the same spot goes from having this raw, unpredictable vibe to feeling like a scripted show? I've seen it happen with local spots too, where the original misfits get pushed out by people just there for the spectacle.
