Escrow services felt like a gimmick until a UK client insisted on one

Back in 2019 a guy from London wanted to pay through an escrow service for a $4,200 driveway job I was consulting on. I thought it was some PayPal knockoff but he walked me through how it held his money until I finished the work. After he paid the fee and I got my funds cleared in 3 days I was sold. Anyone else had good luck with escrow for international deals?

Oh man, same exact thing happened to me with a client from Australia who wanted to use escrow for a $3,200 landscaping design contract. I was totally skeptical at first, thinking it was just another middleman taking a cut for nothing. But after he fronted the fee and I had the money in my account within 4 days of finishing, I was completely converted - now I push for escrow on any international deal over a grand.
