Almost lost a whole contract over a DNS timeout issue

Spent 6 hours troubleshooting a client's email flow only to find out their DNS TTL was set to 2 weeks. Nobody told me they'd changed hosts 3 days before I started. That one little setting ate up an entire Friday and nearly cost me a $4,000 retainer. Has anyone else had a simple config change wreck a whole afternoon like this?
