Had to pick between a cheap laptop and a decent one for on-site work

I went with a $300 refurb over a $700 model to save cash, and now it crashes every time I run a network scan at a client office in Denver. Anyone else regret cheaping out on hardware for consulting visits?

Is it crashing right at the start of the scan or after it runs for a while? That makes a big difference. If it dies immediately, it's probly a driver issue with the network chipset on that cheap model, but if it crashes after 5-10 minutes of scanning it might be overheating because those budget laptops have terrible cooling. Have you checked if the fan even kicks on when you load it up?

Yeah that Denver office thing sounds rough. You think the crashing is from the hardware itself or maybe the network scan software just doesn't play nice with certain chipsets on that cheap model?

Wait, they actually bought THAT model for a whole office?
