The day I realized I was billing hourly wrong for 3 years

A buddy in the business looked at my invoices and said 'you're working for peanuts, man.' He broke down how he charges per project instead of hourly. I did the math on my last 5 gigs and saw I was making like $25 an hour on some jobs. Has anyone else made the switch from hourly to fixed pricing and actually seen their income jump?

Wait, you were only making twenty five bucks an hour on skilled work?

Twenty five an hour for skilled labor is basically the new minimum for anyone who knows what they're doing. That's what places pay when they want to keep people but don't want to admit they need them. You'd make more flipping burgers at In-N-Out in some states.

Funny you mention that. My buddy tried to get his brother hired at a car shop last year and they offered him seventeen an hour with ten years of experience. The guy walked right out and went to work at a warehouse paying twenty two for way less stress. Makes you wonder who's really winning in this whole setup.
