That checkbox probably took longer to find than my last three actual features combined.

Ugh, I feel that so much. What finally worked for me was just stepping away and writing out every single line of code on a whiteboard. It sounds dumb but mapping it out visually helped me see where I was making a dumb assumption. Then I literally went through each piece of logic one by one and checked it against the UI. Took me about an hour but I found the bug in like 10 minutes after that. Sometimes you just need to change how you look at the problem to make it click.
