Vent: Lost a $15k proposal because I used the wrong file format

Last Tuesday I sent a big proposal to a potential client in Austin. I saved it as a Pages document instead of a PDF because I was rushing between meetings. They couldn't open it and moved on to a competitor by Friday. Has anyone else had a deal fall through over something this small?

Had a client bail on a $5k project once because I spelled their company name wrong in the email subject line. They said it showed I didn't pay attention to details. I still think they were looking for an excuse to back out but it stung pretty bad. That Pages to PDF move is rough though. File formats are like that one little thing that can kill everything.

Man that's rough. $5k is a lot to lose over something so small, especially when you know it was just an excuse. File format stuff can definitely make people act like you don't know what you're doing even when the rest of the project is solid.
