Finally got a 30% deposit upfront on a $1200 project and the whole process felt less stressful
I tried asking for half upfront instead of the usual 25% and the client actually agreed without pushing back, which made me wonder if I've been underselling my own terms this whole time has anyone else had luck bumping up their deposit percentage without losing the gig?

Yeah the 30% model actually changed my mind too once I tried it.

Jumped right into the deep end with the 30% model myself and ended up feeling like a ghost - you could see right through my whole approach. Honestly, I messed it up so badly the first time that I accidentally offended a client by being too direct. But once I figured out how to dial it back and actually listen, it clicked. Now I just look like a normal person who occasionally says something useful instead of a robot trying to sell them something every 5 seconds. Guess that's progress, right?

perry.jesse said it changed their mind too - that's wild how a small shift in how you ask for something can flip the whole dynamic. Kinda makes you wonder where else we're selling ourselves short without even knowing it.
