Pro tip: that 'work from anywhere' cafe in Portland had zero outlets
Saw a post on r/digitalnomad about this cute spot downtown that's supposedly perfect for late night freelancers. Got there at 11 PM with my laptop dead at 15% battery. Walked the whole place twice and found exactly zero open outlets. Ended up grinding on my phone for 2 hours in a booth near the bathroom. Has anyone else found a solid late night cafe that actually has power strips or is this just a myth?

My 2008 MacBook survived three hours in there last week on a fully charged battery.

Three hours on a 2008 MacBook with a full charge sounds like a stretch to me. Those old plastic MacBooks had terrible batteries even when they were new, and by 2025 that thing must be on its third or fourth replacement by now. My 2011 MacBook Air died after 45 minutes in my bag last winter, and that was with a newer battery. Plus the cold usually kills battery life faster, not makes it last longer. I don't know, maybe yours is some kind of unicorn, but mine would be dead in an hour tops.
