Tried a cheap noise-cancelling app at 3 AM and my ears are ringing now

I downloaded a free white noise app from the Play Store last night during a late coding session and it blasted my eardrums with a weird static hiss that left my left ear muffled all morning. Turns out some of these apps don't cap the volume properly and you can actually mess with your hearing if you're not careful. Anyone else had a bad experience with a random app you grabbed in a hurry to stay focused?

I mean, "left ear muffled all morning" could just be your ears adjusting to the sudden quiet after loud coding, not an actual injury. Idk, cheap apps are buggy but I've had random free ones glitch out without any lasting damage. Maybe it's just me but I think it's more of a scare than a real hearing risk.

Nah I gotta disagree with that one, loud noise is loud noise no matter the source lol. If an app glitches and blasts your ears at max volume for a few seconds, that's still physical pressure hitting your eardrum. Just because it's a software bug doesn't mean your ears can tell the difference.
