Got a handwritten thank-you note from a lawyer I did floors for last spring
She said 'I've never had a contractor actually show up when they said they would and finish on budget,' and I still think about that note every time I price a new job. Has anyone else gotten a compliment from a client that stuck with you way longer than you expected?

Used to roll my eyes at the whole "client compliment changes everything" thing, but then I had a guy tell me my attention to detail reminded him of his dad who was a carpenter. That was three years ago and it still pops into my head whenever I'm second-guessing a tiny fix on a job. Hits different when someone sees the little stuff you do without being asked.

Yeah I was the same way till someone said something similar. @abbyhall that bit about "sees the little stuff you do without being asked" hits hard. It really does change how you look at your own work.
