Started with $0 and a dream of working from a beach somewhere. Set up a separate account, auto-transfer 15% of every invoice. No touching it. Got a notification today $10,045. Never thought I'd actually get there. Anyone else hit a number that made them stop and stare?

Wait, you set up a separate account and auto-transfer every single time? That's actually genius. I did the same thing but I only transfer once a month, and I bet the consistency of doing it per invoice is way harder to ignore. You've basically forced your business to pay you last instead of first, which is the whole trick to saving when you're self-employed. I think that discipline is harder than earning the money itself for most people. Props to you for sticking with it that long without touching it, that's the part that makes the number real.

Jennybailey's right about that discipline thing. A buddy of mine tried the per invoice method and lasted exactly two weeks before he needed new tires and convinced himself the savings account was "free money" he'd earned.
