The co-working desk in Medellin that made my back forget how to work properly

I spent 3 weeks in Medellin last November working from a popular co-working spot near Laureles. Their wooden chairs looked nice but after day 4 my lower back was screaming louder than my inbox. I learned to check the chair situation before committing to a desk, and now I ask for a photo of the actual seating before booking any space for more than a week. Anyone else ever get stuck in a chair that looked comfortable but wasn't?

Okay I gotta push back on this a bit lol. "Forced me to sit up straight" sounds nice but your body has natural curves that need support, not punishment. Those hardwood chairs are basically a medieval torture device for anyone with even a hint of back issues. The thing about slouching in cushy chairs is real, but the solution isn't a plank of wood. What actually happens is your lower back muscles start fighting to keep you upright and by week two you're hunched over anyway from fatigue. I tried the lumbar cushion trick too but it just slides around on that slick surface. At the end of the day a co-working space that doesn't offer at least one adjustable chair option is just prioritizing their Instagram feed over your spine.

Gotta push back on this one a little. I actually loved those wooden chairs at that spot in Laureles, specifically the ones near the back wall. Yeah they look hard and unforgiving but I found they forced me to sit up straight instead of slouching into a cushy chair that eventually turns into a hammock for my spine. I think the real problem is people expecting office chairs in a trendy co-working spot, those places are more about looking cool than ergonomics. Maybe try adding a small lumbar support cushion from a local pharmacy, those saved me in similar situations.

Yeah but those chairs wreck your tailbone after hour three...
