A vendor told me my card terminal was too slow for their lunch rush

I've been using the same little terminal for 3 years at my food cart downtown. Last week a regular vendor at the cart next to me said I was losing people because my chip reader takes 15 seconds per transaction. He showed me his NFC setup - taps take 3 seconds. Switched to a cheap used NFC reader I found on Craigslist for $40. Has anyone else had customers walk away because of slow processing times?

That $40 Craigslist find probably paid for itself in a week.

Did you ever have one of those Craigslist meetups that felt like a spy movie? I bought a table saw from a guy who showed up in a minivan with his cat in the passenger seat, and we did the whole exchange in a gas station parking lot at 10pm. The saw works great though, so I guess the weird vibes were worth it.

@sandragrant yeah that $40 reader already paid for itself (unlike my decision to buy a gas station burrito this morning).
