Found a cleaner way to handle chargeback alerts

I kept getting chargeback notices by email and missing them until three days later. Last month I set up SMS alerts through my processor Stripe for anything over $50. Costs me 2 cents per text but it saved me from losing a $220 dispute because I responded within 24 hours. Has anyone else tried this with their merchant account?

I can see the appeal of SMS alerts but they might cause more problems than they solve. Getting pinged at all hours for a $50 chargeback notification sounds exhausting, and that 2 cents per text adds up fast if you run a high volume store. @ray613 mentioned checking his phone within an hour, but what happens when you're asleep or in a meeting and that $220 dispute notice comes in at 3 AM? You could end up rushing a response and making mistakes with your evidence. I'd rather stick with a dedicated daily email check at a set time where I can sit down and think clearly about each case.

SMS alerts seem like a quick fix, but that 3 AM panic call doesn't sound worth it to me.

SMS alerts are a lifesaver for chargebacks honestly. I did the same thing with my Shopify store after I missed a $180 dispute and lost it cause I didn't reply in time. Now I get text alerts for anything $50 or more and it costs me pennies per message. I set up a rule where I check my phone within an hour of getting one of those texts. Already saved a $90 chargeback on a pair of sneakers cause I caught it right away and sent the tracking proof.
