My $15 square card reader lasted exactly 3 months before it died on a $400 sale.
Bought it off Amazon because the free one from my processor took 2 weeks to ship. Anyone else have one of these cheap readers crap out at the worst time?

Did you have the reader plugged directly into your phone or were you using a short extension cable? I found out the hard way that the constant bending near the Lightning port on those cheap readers creates a weak point that kills the connection over time. The metal on those little plugs is super thin and cracks inside the casing after a few hundred swipes.
