That merchant rep who bragged about her 2.5% rate forgetting to mention the $25 monthly fee

Met her at a trade show in Dallas last spring and she spent 10 minutes selling me on the low swipe fee but never said a word about the PCI compliance charges until I asked, has anyone else caught those hidden fees after the fact?

Actually it was $30 not $25 on that fee.

Have you tried asking them to send over a full breakdown of every single fee before you sign? I had a rep do the same thing last year, only it was a monthly "compliance" fee that hit like $30, and they tried to say it was industry standard. I pushed back and asked for a written estimate with all charges listed line by line, and suddenly they found a way to waive the first six months. Still ended up walking away, but it saved me from a nasty surprise. Lesson learned: never trust the promo rate, always demand the full picture in writing.
