The Tuesday that 3 different gateways all failed at once
Last month I had a Tuesday where three different payment gateways went down in the same afternoon - Stripe, Square, and a small regional processor I use for local farmers market vendors. By 3 PM I had angry customers calling and no way to process a single sale, which cost me about $1,200 in lost revenue just that day. Has anyone else had a multi-gateway failure like that, or was this a once-in-a-career fluke?

Read somewhere this is happening more often, a cascading cloud dependency issue.

Nah, "cascading cloud dependency issue" sounds like a buzzword people use to sell you more monitoring tools

$1,200 lost in a day, ouch. I had a similar nightmare last spring when my main gateway went down during a weekend craft fair. I had a backup square reader but it was dead because I forgot to charge it. What saved me was having a paper order form ready to go. I wrote down names and phone numbers, processed payments after the gateways came back up, and emailed everyone their receipts the next morning. It wasn't perfect but I kept about 80% of those sales.
