Had to choose between a U-Haul and hiring movers for my cross-town move in Phoenix

I moved from a 2nd floor apartment in Tempe to a house in Mesa last month, and I was stuck between renting a truck for $120 or paying a crew $450. I went with the movers because my back is shot from a old injury (tore a disc at 25, ugh). Best call ever - they had it done in 3 hours flat and even wrapped my couch so it didn't scrape. Anyone else regret trying to save money and go the DIY route instead?

Nah, U-Haul all the way lol. Saved like $300 doing it myself last year and just bribed some friends with pizza and beer. Sure my lamp got a little cracked but that was $30 from Target anyway.

You said "bribed some friends with pizza and beer" @kellyallen and honestly that's a fair trade lol. A cracked lamp is worth it when you save $300 easy. Way better than paying movers to do what your buddies can handle.

Yeah but @parker_hall5 you gotta factor in the favor debt too... now all those friends know they can call you for their next move and you can't really say no. Plus the pizza and beer costs add up if you got a big crew. Still beats paying movers though, I'll give you that. Last time I helped a buddy move we lost his coffee table leg and he just shrugged it off... that's the price of doing it yourself I guess.
