My dad swore by cardboard boxes for 30 years. Finally convinced him plastic bins are worth it after our last move in Portland.
He fought me on it for years. One rainy move with soggy boxes that collapsed on a dresser finally changed his mind.

Dollar store baking pans are actually better than both for a single move, just tape the lids on and call it done. No ruined boxes or plastic bins taking up garage space after.

Those baking pans warp after one trip to the oven, let alone a moving truck.
