My dad told me I packed the kitchen wrong and he was right

He said I put all heavy pots on top of light plates in the same box and that would break everything. I changed to wrapping each plate separate and stacking pots on bottom and nothing cracked during the 600 mile drive to Austin.

Oh man, I've been there. My husband tried to "help" pack our kitchen once and put ALL the wine glasses in one box with zero padding. I still bring it up every time we move. Sounds like you learned the hard way that dads actually DO know some stuff about physics and weight distribution. At least you didn't have to buy all new plates when you got to Austin like my friend did after her move.

DUDE yes! I had a TOTAL disaster moving out of my college apartment. I thought I was being SO smart by packing all my books in a big plastic bin. Didn't think about the fact that books are basically bricks. I got to the bottom of three flights of stairs, the bottom just FELL out of the bin and all my textbooks went bouncing down the steps. I was picking up calculus books for an hour. My dad just stood there shaking his head and said "heavy stuff goes in small boxes son." I was like okay dad you win this round. Now I legit call him before every move to ask what size box to use for what stuff.

My buddy once packed all his cast iron pans in a single duffel bag. Tried to carry it down three flights of stairs and the strap snapped right off. Pans went clanking down the whole hallway.
