Three weeks in Buffalo and I still haven't unpacked my kitchen
Moved from Austin to Buffalo last month for my wife's job transfer. It's been 23 days and I've got boxes stacked in the dining room that I keep walking around. The movers lost one box labeled "pots and pans" and I'm debating if I even need to replace them or just eat takeout forever. Has anyone else just given up on unpacking after a certain point?

Push back hard on the whole "unpacking is a choice" thing because it's not about the stuff, it's about your headspace. You moved to a completely different climate and city for your wife's job, that's a massive life shift, and leaving those boxes out is like keeping one foot in Austin while you're trying to settle into Buffalo. I'd say force yourself to unpack at least the kitchen this weekend, even if it sucks, because living out of boxes for months just keeps you feeling like a guest in your own home. The takeout thing is a crutch and honestly makes the whole transition feel temporary, like you're just passing through instead of actually building a new life here.

Feel you on this one, it's rough making that big of a move. @henry_anderson54 makes a solid point about it being a headspace thing though, that box pile is basically a reminder you're not fully settled yet. Hope you find your pots soon, or at least grab that cheap skillet before the takeout bills hit you too hard.

23 boxes from my last move sat in my garage for 14 months before I finally gave up and donated everything unopened. Honestly, if you haven't needed those pots by now, you probably don't need half of the other stuff either. Ngl, eating takeout every night gets old fast though, your wallet will hate you. Tbh, I'd just buy a cheap skillet and a small pot from Target and call it done. The rest of those boxes can stay stacked until you actually want to deal with them. Unpacking is a choice, not a requirement.
