My buddy set up a separate checking account for taxes and it saved his sanity. He transfers 30% of every payment he gets right into that account, no exceptions. It still stings when you have to send that money out, but at least the cash is already sitting there waiting. Pair that with a simple spreadsheet or even just a notes app to track your income and you're way ahead of the game. The key is to treat that money like it doesn't exist until April rolls around. Makes the whole process a lot less painful, lol.
