I finally talked to an accountant friend about my mileage tracking
Had coffee with a buddy who does taxes full time and he told me I've been claiming miles wrong for 3 years by not separating personal errands from work trips. He said I am leaving at least $800 a year on the table by not using a dedicated app instead of my sticky note system. Has anyone else had to redo their mileage records after getting new info like this?

Oh man, that sucks... I've been there with the sticky note system too and it's such a pain when you find out you've been doing it wrong. At least now you know though, better late than never right?

Oh wow, I actually just read something about how a lot of people have been doing the sticky note thing wrong for years. Idk why nobody tells you these things upfront, feels like a rite of passage or something.
