That rental in Medellin looked perfect in photos but I got there and it was a construction site next door

Booked a place in El Poblado for 3 weeks last month based on the listing and reviews. Turned out the building next to it started demo at 7am every day and the host just said 'sorry, not my problem'. Anyone else had a host hide major stuff until after you paid?

Did you try looking up the property address on Google Maps street view before booking? I always check the satellite view too because listings hide neighboring construction, busy roads, and even landfills that way. Found out a "quiet garden view" was actually overlooking a highway overpass that way, saved myself a headache.

Gotta say, you're mostly right but street view isn't always current. I checked a place once that showed a nice quiet street, but when I got there they'd built a whole new apartment complex next door that wasn't on the map yet. Satellite view can be a year or two old too, so don't take it as gospel if you're booking something that's still under construction nearby. Always worth a look but keep in mind the date stamp on those images.

My friend showed up to a parking lot that was a house in the photos.
