Three days into my new city and my suitcase exploded on a public bus

I was moving to Portland and my cheap duffel bag zipper gave out right as I stepped off, sending socks and a laptop charger rolling down the aisle while the driver just stared at me. Has anyone else had a piece of luggage totally fail at the absolute worst moment of a relocation?

Blame the bus driver and the city for this mess. You chose to move with a cheap duffel bag that clearly wasn't built for this kind of trip, that's on you for not testing the zipper before you left. Portland's public transit doesn't owe you a red carpet welcome, it's a bus not a limo. Your socks and charger rolling down the aisle sounds like a normal Tuesday for that driver, they've seen way worse. Maybe take this as a lesson to invest in a decent piece of luggage instead of blaming the bus or the city for your bad planning.

Yeah you gotta test the zipper before you head out, that's like Moving 101. A buddy of mine had his whole bag split open on the MAX once, now he tapes the edges of every bag he owns like a weirdo.
