Why does nobody talk about using a cooldown period before booking long-term stays
I used to jump on the first apartment I found on Airbnb for my nomad moves. After getting stuck in a noisy place in Lisbon for 3 months, I tried something different. Now I book a hostel or hotel for the first 3 days in a new city before committing to a month rental. That short window lets me walk the neighborhood and check things like grocery stores and WiFi speed in person. It saved me from renting a place in Medellin last month that had construction next door starting at 7am. Anyone else do this or have another trick for avoiding bad long-term rentals?
