Woke up in a hostel in Medellin after 3 months and barely recognized myself

I moved from a stuffy apartment in Seattle to a shared spot in El Poblado back in February, and the before-and-after in my energy levels is wild because I'm walking everywhere instead of driving. Turns out ditching the car and living with 8 other nomads forced me into a routine of morning runs and shared dinners, not the isolation I expected. Has anyone else found that their physical health completely shifted after a relocation, or is it just the novelty of a new place?

@dylan_ward yeah you make a good point about that "initial burst" thing, but I think the walking part sticks longer than people expect if you actually build your life around it. Like I still have to walk 20 mins just to get groceries here, it's not optional anymore, that's just how the city works. The real shift for me was how my eating changed naturally because I couldn't just drive thru a Starbucks drive-thru anymore and had to actually cook with the hostel crew. So even though the novelty wore off around week 6 for me, the routine kinda locked in anyway.

Is this your first time living without a car though? That initial burst of feeling great from walking everywhere usually fades once your body gets used to it and you realize you're still eating like you're on vacation.
