Coffee shop or library for remote work - which wins?
I had to pick between working from my local coffee shop downtown or the public library on 5th street for a full day. Coffee shop had better coffee and wifi, but the noise level got crazy after 11am. Library was dead quiet but their wifi dropped me twice and I had to pack up when they closed at 6pm. I ended up at the coffee shop and got 3 solid hours in before the lunch rush hit. Anyone else stuck between these two options and found a clear winner?

Coffee shops are my go-to for the same reason, that solid chunk before the chaos starts is worth the tradeoff. I've lived through the library wifi dropout scramble more times than I care to count. Take this with a grain of salt, but a good pair of noise canceling earbuds and an early start at the coffee shop has been my winning combo.

The only problem with that coffee shop strategy is when you forget that your earbuds are on noise canceling and you scream at the barista for not hearing you order. Been there, done that, got the disappointed look. Plus you have to deal with that one guy who brings his laptop and puts it on speakerphone for a meeting. But hey, a little chaos builds character, right? At least the wifi usually works until the lunch rush hits.

The speakerphone guy is the absolute worst, no question. But you nailed it, a little chaos does build character. Honestly, the barista disappointment is kind of a rite of passage at this point. That look they give you, it sticks with you longer than any coffee buzz. You ever just give up and walk out after that kind of moment?
