That overheard argument at the coffee shop about tipping still has me torn

Two guys were going back and forth about whether tipping culture rewards good service or just lets employers off the hook for fair wages, and I can't decide which side I land on after 10 minutes of listening, what do you all think?

Wait, who are we supposed to be mad at here - the customer who doesn't tip enough or the business owner paying $2 an hour? I think tipping has gotten completely out of control honestly. Like every screen flips around now asking for 20% before you even get your coffee. But at the same time servers literally rely on tips to survive because the system is broken. It's not the customer's fault wages are trash but it's also not the worker's fault for wanting to pay rent. Employers just sit back and laugh while customers and employees fight over their responsibility.

Blame myself honestly, for walking into a coffee shop cashless and then awkwardly pretending I didn't see the tip screen while tapping my card. Tbh it's like a guilt trip every time I just want caffeine, not a moral debate on my life choices. Ngl the real winners are the owners who sit back and watch us all fight over who gets to feel bad.
