My $400 printer died right before a deadline last Tuesday

I was printing out a big batch of packaging labels for a client order when my brother printer just stopped mid page with a grinding noise. Took me an hour to realize the drum unit was completely shot and replacing it cost almost as much as a new printer. Had to rush to Staples and drop $280 on a new one just to get the labels out by 5pm that day. Any of y'all have gear fail at the worst possible moment and how'd you handle the extra cost?

And learning that lesson about drum units is why I always keep a spare toner on hand now, just in case.

Keeping a spare toner is such a good idea. I learned that lesson the hard way too when my printer started acting up right before a big project was due. Now I stash an extra one in my desk drawer so I’m never caught off guard again lol.

learning that lesson about drum units" - yeah that's the real kicker right there. Toner's one thing, but those drums will sneak up on you every time.
